Virgina Pound Cake

Old-Fashioned Virginia Pound cake

Everything is better when you term it "old-fashioned" and this yummy summer cake is no exception!

 

Ingredients

 

1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow or white cake mix (no "pudding in the mix")

1 (3 ounce) package lemon flavored gelatin

3/4 cup vegetable oil

4 eggs

3/4 cup water

1 tbs. lemon extract

1 tbs. orange extract

 

2 cups confectioners' sugar

1/4 cup butter

4 tablespoons lemon juice

 

Directions

 

1. Combine gelatin mix and cake mix. Mix well.

2. Add next 4 ingredients - oil, eggs, water and lemon extract. Mix lightly.

3. Bake according to instructions on back of cake box in angel food pan.

 

4. Cool. Flip onto cake platter.

 

To Make Glaze: Combine confectioners' sugar, butter and lemon juice.

 

When cake is done, and while still hot,use a long skewer to poke holes all over the cake and pour glaze over top.

 

Place fresh flowers or fruit into center to "spill" out and create centerpiece with dessert.
